Take advantage of resolution differences
Printing presses usually have a 300 dpi or higher resolution. In contrast, computer monitors usually only have a 72 dpi resolution. The brochure design is usually sent to the printer as a graphics page. You have to make sure that the graphics are saved at 300 dpi or higher. This results in a better-looking brochure once printed.
Choose the right paper thickness
The paper used for the brochure is usually stock paper that weights between 130-170 gsm. Lower weight classes are too soft and may break when folded. There is a slight price premium for thicker paper, but the difference in quality could translate to better audience reception, so choose wisely.
Scale to the right print size
Make sure that you have the right size layout for the given paper or print size. If the print size is 8×10, don’t submit an 8.5 x 11 graphic. This will force the machine to shrink the image to the paper size — you would lose either some resolution or the graphic would have the wrong aspect ratio. Either way, the graphic would be noticeably warped.
